Works great with Comcast/Xfinity in the NorthEast
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·BigQuark
Using this with Comcast/Xfinity instead of renting a modem. We had DOCSIS 3.0 when I installed this modem and the install was fast and friendly. I connected it to the cable coax line and to our computer and the comcast activation page immediately appeared. After waiting five minutes for the comcast site to do its thing I was told to reboot and we were on line. Our neighborhood was upgraded to DOCSIS 3.1 and we were told to reboot our modem in an email from comcast. We had Gigabit service and consistent 940/40 speeds. Everything was great and then approximately four days later the modem would spontaneously reboot. Comcast dispatched a technician to our home and when I showed him the modem GUI page with the signal levels he verified the same with his own signal meter and installed an upstream signal attenuator at our ground block and we have been fine ever since. The comcast technician commented that the upgrade to DOCSIS 3.1 had changed the network signal level and that the modem was trying to compensate. He also told us that that this is one of the best modems deployed and that when he sees this modem he almost always rules it out as a problem when he is on a service call. We are happy with this modem and it has been trouble free for over a year.

I will start by saying that my ISP is Vyve Broadband. I carried my rented cable modem along with my new Netgear DOCSIS 3.1 High Speed 32x8 Cable Modem (CM1000) out to the local Vyve Broadband office. They pulled up my account and removed the rented cable modem, the added my Netgear cable modem information that is required for activation. I changed my internet service to the 200 Mbps plan. After returning home I hooked up my new Netgear CM1000 cable modem, the cable to its input and a short CAT6 cable from the WAN connection to my Netgear router WAN port. I powered on the devices and the modem and router went to work, with various lights blinking. It took only about 5 minutes and the cable modem had set itself up completely and with the Netgear router. I logged in to the cable modem to have a look at the stats. I then went to a speed test sight which showed that my download was 211 Mbps and upload 20 Mbps. All of my PCs, router, switch and access point connect at 1000 Mbps instead of the 100 Mbps that it used to. Am I satisfied and happy with this purchase??? You better believe it.

This is on sale at my favorite club store, I like and had very good luck with Netgear products. I’m changing it to the next level up because Comcast’s certification is only up to 800 Mbps. \r\nI read some of the negative reviews, especially from a so-called “electrical engineer “ who couldn’t make it do what he wanted. A true electrical engineer would know that this modem is designed for locations with up to two IP addresses; it’s not a switch, it’s not a router. Basically, again, for businesses or homes which need or prefer to have two IP addresses.\r\nI had complained with Comcast because everyone from customer service to tech support didn’t know this as well. If you need an extra IP address, it may be difficult finding someone who understands. Otherwise, when you take the human defective thought out of the equation, it’s an awesome modem for homes with midrange internet speed requirements.\r\nAgain, it’s the limits for comcast which made me upgrade to a faster modem.

NETGEAR Nighthawk® Multi-Gig Speed (2gbs) Cable Modem DOCSIS® 3.1. I always liked Netgear so when I wanted to switch out the provider cable "rental" modem due to excessive costs, I went directly to Netgear. Price was best and reasonable at Walmart.com and Warranty is one year in most cases. Three easy setup steps (3mins) and installation completed through provider in 5 minutes. 1. Disconnect old modem, 2. Connect cable coaxial to new modem, then power cord, wait until light (looks like orbit circle on front of modem) stays solid green, plug in ethernet cord (yellow or blue) and start computer, 3. Call provider and give MAC %23 (found on bottom modem) to reboot (may need S/N %23). Done in 10 mins total. I also have Netgear Nighthawk Router. Another easy setup. Never had any problems with Netgear or Customer Service. I would recommend Netgear.

Perfect Gigabit Modem

I recently upgraded my internet to gigabit through xfinity and I needed a gigabit modem, I have purchased the Arris SB8200 because they are a known good brand and it was the brand I have been using, once I made the purchase, I tested my speed and it is getting no where half the gigabit when I am wired to my router. The netgear one had better review all over but I though arris was find so I sticked to the brand, boy I was wrong. I should have gone with netgear from the start since I have a x10 nighthawk router and probably should pair with the netgear brand. Once I returned the arris modem and picked up this netgear modem, I tested the speed and I am not getting 940mbps wired and around 600mbps, this is the modem to get if you have gigabit internet.

Next day no internet connection had to reboot modem. Since then modem has been running fine for 4 weeks no issues so far will see in 11 months when warranty expires.

I had never purchased a router that wasn't a combo so I was a little intimidated. This was probably one of the best choices I made. It was a little difficult at first to understand how to switch everything over because the instructions weren't great but once I figured it out it was such a good choice. I am able to connect up to 100 devices and the speed is OUTSTANDING. trying to reach customer service was also frustrating because it's very hard to get to a live person. Fortunately I was able to figure this out by myself and it's great.

What a difference this new gigabit router made in my house. I'm now getting internet speeds that I thought was only possible at my kid's house. I was previously having issues, so I started to go through the elimination process. I then boiled it down to my previous router. So I bought this new Gigabit cable modem, and within minutes I was up and flying with amazing internet speeds. Thanks Netgear. Well worth the money.

My husband notices how fast the connection is compared to our former modem.

Purchased the unit in December of 2022. Worked as expected for six months then speeds started dropping for over a few days. Powered unit off and let it rest for a few minutes. Powered it back on and all the lights, except for power, were flashing amber. The modem was dead. Took Netgear over two months to respond to my situation and they had to be pushed to replace the unit. Not pleased with the service.

Very nice speed and reliability compared to the smaller Netgear modem that kept dropping out. This new modem rarely needs a reboot. You most definitely need to make sure that all coaxial splitters are-3.5db rated in order to get full potential performance and prevent drops in your signal. Definitely not money wasted! 👍

Extremely powerful. Easy to setup, except the additional task of calling Cox to allow it to be recognized, since their online verification of the modem didn’t work. But that’s not Netgear’s fault. Overall I’m getting impressive speeds over 2Gbps to my wired desktop, & over 1Gbps to my phones & iPads.
