Great gameplay with even better graphics. If you want a racing game, this is the only one you need.

Was given to a 12 year old that enjoys racing and he thourghly enjyoys it. Says he can't wait to get a wheel and pedal set up to make it alot more realistic.

Graphics hold up well, still. Get to drive as Michael Schumacher in his last competitive season with Ferrari. Nuff said.

i have a later version, but this version is great for just jumping in the seat and racing without all the set-up bull*****. it is outrageously fast and thrilling. it is from a time that i knew all the racers like mikka hakinnen (europe) and jaques villnueve from my country canada.

Good game, plays great, accurate

Awesome game, I prefer this to Codemasters newer games. Codemaster may be slightly easier to start but this game delivers more. Much more exciting in my opinion, cars feel like they are actually doing the speed they are, but maintains relatively easy handling. I also prefer the graphic on this game, much more rounded and less edgy than Codemasters. I really liked the Codemasters games, but I think the avid F1 fan will find this game more rewarding. The only area where I find Codemasters slightly ahead is passing, although just barely. F1 CE is much more challenging to make a clean pass, which is probably more realistic. Added are the classic cars which are extremely fun to drive, even if only in time trial mode. This game is a bargain and I find in many ways superior than the current games.

With Sony being the only one with the F1 license after 2002 they've had no competition; considering that they've put out a good game.\nThe graphics are great. They may look amazing to most people in 720p, but if you've played the GT:HD demo you can see that Gran Turismo looks far better.\nThe actually racing is very good and sim-like physics without over-the-top difficulty. The AI is great, but not perfect. They will shut the door on you if you're behind them, and if you pressure them long enough they will make a mistake and open the door for you to get by. With all the aids turned off just going the race distance will be rewarding.\nAll the 2006 tracks, teams and drivers are in as well as a few extra cars and Jerez. There is no 2 player split screen, but there is a mediocre, simple online mode and it's free. There's a bit of lag and most races will have plenty of overly aggressive drivers, though. The offline, single player racing is good enough to overlook the online's shortcoming.\nJames Allen and Martin Brundle call the races, but they get repetitive and annoying, rather quickly, too. The rest of the audio is top notch; engine sounds are accurate amd unique to each car, wind, traction control and rumble strip noises are done well and your race engineer is quite helpful.\nThis game has plenty of aids to help non-sim racing or non-F1 fans, but I'd only recommend buying this if you are into F1 or a big fan of racing in general. Plenty of tuning and realism to satisfy a sim-fan. If you're into crashes, explosions, drifting... look for a dedicated aracde style racer.

I havent had enough time to play this game, but for what i have played, i noticed a few good and bad things about it. First of all, there is no two player mode, unless you play online, I understand this, in order to have enough screen space to play, you need the whole screen, still, i lknow, most players would have liked a two player mode...at least.\nSecond, this game is as technical as you can get, a wrong turn and you just lost your car, need for speed fanatics need not to apply, unless you are willing to not crash.\nThe graphics in this game are beautiful, perhaps, the best f1 game visually.\nThe last thing I noticed is that the edit your driver section, could use a few more avatars, but one again who cares about the driver, you care about the cars.\nGreat game overall with room for improvement for maybe a second installment.

If you love Formula One, you WILL LOVE this game. It looks great on a hi-def tv, and sounds even better! It can be extremely realistic and difficult. But if you want to just have it arcade style, there is a quick race option. You can create your own player, but the only clothing or helmet options are those that the other characters in the game wear. But picking clothing and helmet is not what this game is about. The racing is fantastic. You can choose career or a full race weekend, and it is extremely accurate. They have Friday and Saturday practice to setup your car, 3 rounds of knockout qualifying, and then the actual race. And all last as long as the real thing! If you choose, it can actually take you hours and hours to go through one race weekend. But you can also skip practice and qualifying, and can adjust how many laps you want to do. Picking a good pit stop strategy is crucial to winning a race. It's just like real Formula One. You can also unlock bonus cars.

F1 Championship Edition is currently the only Formula one game available on the PS3 which is a shame since it is based on the 2006 Formula one season.\n\nPros:\n\nThe game show me a real fellings of F1, great audio, better video.\nYou must be care with your tires, gas, pitstop like the races.\nThes races has good details and they are very real\n\nContras\n\nNeeds has upgrade of pilots, teams and others.\n\nI didn't use online races, I'm testing but is better that the last NFS.\n\nForr a 2006 game It's more complete than nascar 2008 or 2009 (in my opinion) and dou you have to do plans to win the races.

An avid follower of F1, a craze fan of the one and only Micheal Schumacher - I just couldnt stay away from this game!!! It still has Schumi in it!!!\n\nBack to the game, it looks awesome, the controls are great.... makes good use of the sixaxis controller, online is fantastic.... there were some freezes along the way, but it doesnt affect game play... It only happens when u kill the car!!!\n\nI was just not able to get to the top time (gold) ever... guess need much much more practice!!\n\nIn simple words, if you are a racing fan, want good graphics, have a big screen tv... get this game and feel 1/100th of what the racers feel at the tracks !!!\n\nDid i mention I love the game ??

Dry presentation aside, Formula One Championship Edition is a good racer that is just accessible enough to newcomers while still being deep enough for longtime fans.\n\nGreat sense of speed. Very friendly to beginners, though the difficulty quickly ramps up. SUPER Sweet rain effects. Online play is smooth and supports 11 people in a single race.\n\nPresentation is drab. Difficulty progression could be smoother. Rosters are extremely out of date (JP Montaya has been driving in NASCAR for two years, Both Schumachers are retired, No Lewis Hamilton).

This is a good game, the online play is fantastic, you can customise races to your preference including laps, pits, weather, qualification, max number of cars etc etc. The graphics are fantastic especially the rain on the visor when racing! All in all this is a really good game but I have to agree with the previous reviewer, this games is badly hurt by the lack of multiplayer split screen mode. You can only play multiplayer on line against other users with a seperate PS3 and TV/monitor. My son hates this more than anybody as he is not too patient and wants to race all the time (he must take after me!) which means one of us generally spends a lot of time watching the other race! All said its a good game if you can live without the split screen multiplayer mode.

awesome game for its time, might not have the best of graphics and what not but it is one of my favorite games cuz its all original, drivers, tracks, cars all original and very cool.

Im collecting F1 games from the past for Playstation and I Brought this game. this game is so diffrent than these other F1 games Present.this has a helemt view where flies or debris get into the visor.Im saying why these other F1 games has this.then it is the diffrence between Arcade mode and Grand prix.Play GP mode and its totally diffrent from Arcade mode.This game is a true classic.\n\nIf you want a decent F1 game to play in the past or your collecting them or a fan of F1,this is the game to buy.

This is a great racing game. Career mode is great. You don`t have to use the little joy stick. You use the key pad which makes the car easier to handle. It puts NASCAR to shame and for the price of $17 to $21 is another plus. The only draw back is that you will not get tired of the game because it takes for ever to qualify with all the laps for each race. The Aid`s that you get to drive help great too. This game you can keep for at least a year before you will sell it.

The physics of the cars, especially on hard, is amazing. The ability to tweak the car is fantastic. And the little things like unlocking classic F1 cars, priceless.\nBUT.........\nTHERE IS NO MULTIPLAYER!!!!!!! Let me rephrase that. If you define multiplayer as the ability to sit down with a buddy and use the same playstation 3, the same game, and the same T.V. in a split-screen mode, then THERE IS NO MULTIPLAYER!!!!!! If you want to race your friends (or in my case my brother) then you MUST purchase another ps3, another copy of the game, and another t.v. And then you can only play them via LAN or online play.\nSince November I have been waiting for this game, but who wants a game you can't play with anyone else?\nOh Sony..............\nAmmon
