After years of tolerating mediocre...
Reviewed on www.bhphotovideo.com·Mike Emry
After years of tolerating mediocre performance from the stock Spectrum modem and an aging Google Mesh system, I finally decided to overhaul my home network—and the results are nothing short of jaw-dropping.\n\nEnter the Netgear Nighthawk CM3000 cable modem.\n\nFrom the moment it came online, I knew this wasn’t just a marginal upgrade—it was a transformation. For the first time ever, I broke the 1 Gbps barrier on a Spectrum connection. Reliable, consistent, and screaming fast. This modem doesn't just keep up—it unleashes the full potential of my connection. The setup was seamless, the interface clean, and the performance? Flawless.\n\nBut I didn’t stop there.\n\nTo complement the modem, I swapped out my trusty (but aging) Google Mesh system for the Orbi 970 mesh system. Yes, it’s overkill for a cable connection—but that’s the point. This isn’t just about today’s speeds; it’s about future-proofing my network for everything tomorrow will throw at it. 8K streaming? Remote work across multiple devices? Smart home scaling? Bring it on.\n\nThe combination of the Nighthawk CM3000 and Orbi 970 has created a networking dream team. Coverage is blanket-smooth across the house, latency is virtually nonexistent, and handoffs between mesh nodes are invisible and instant. It’s the kind of setup that makes you forget what buffering ever felt like.\n\nIf you’re serious about performance—or just tired of bottlenecks and compromises—this is the upgrade to beat. Fair warning: once you experience this level of speed and stability, there’s no going back.

After connecting to the Netgear...
Reviewed on www.bhphotovideo.com·Drew
After connecting to the Netgear CM2050V modem I had just purchased and getting setup with my Internet provider I started getting crazy fast Internet speed and WiFi speed as well when running the modem speed test I was hit 1400 gbps my WI-FI was running 1300 gbps download speed and I hit 50gbps upload speeds. So my Internet speed was almost doubled compared to what I was running. I've checked it periodically and it's been running those speeds since I got it up and running. Then I was outside from my house and had to use my phone usually when Im at the lower end of my garden where I was I never had a wi-fi signal and to my surprise I was still connected to the WI-FI and that's a good 75 yards away and my router is in the middle room of my house I should have kept moving away and checked how much further I could have went because I have cameras I've always had to keep close to the house to connect now I have such awesome coverage I will be moving them to better locations. But all in all this setup has exceeded any expectations I had and has greatly increased the distance of the WI-FI signal along with the crazy fast speed of my Internet now it's a awesome setup and now I know what I have like I said I will have a much better coverage of my house perimeter for my camera setup. I am very happy I made the changes and it's exceeded what I ever expected! Thank you Netgear for producing such a awesome product.

Perfect solution for home network
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·SRex
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this NETGEAR Nighthawk 2.5Gbps Internet Speed Cable Modem with Voice (CM2050V) in conjunction with the NETGEAR Nighthawk AX5400 Wi-Fi 6 Router (RAX50). The CM2050V does not have an internal router/Wi-Fi function, which is what I desired. In the future, I did not want to be forced to upgrade both modem and Wi-Fi/router functions when one or other became outdated or defective. \n\nIn the process of installing the modem and router, I installed a NETGEAR 24 Port Gigabit Switch (JGS524v2). I retraced and tested all my Cat6E wired ports throughout the house. I plugged in my patch cables, and I was off and running. Except for a few older pieces of hardware running at 10/100, 96% of the LAN was running at 1 Gig speed. First thing, I logged into the modem and router, seamlessly, and with ease, changed the login passwords, and tweaked a few settings. Most of the factory settings were spot on for Xfinity ISP service.\n\nFor my outside, wrap-around porch area, I added a NETGEAR Insight Managed WiFi 6 AX3600 Dual Band Multi-Gig Access Point (WAX620). The access point integrated flawlessly as well. I now have incredible LAN speeds both inside and outside.\n\nI am recently retired and not an IT professional. If you can read and follow the directions, you can install these products without a problem.

Reviewed on www.bhphotovideo.com·Brian
Purchased this modem because I wanted to remove the Xfinity rental for their modem as well as, hopefully, improve the stability of my Internet. We did want to keep our VOIP and DOCSIS 3.1 which pretty much limits choices to one model each from Netgear and Arris. I really wanted Arris because of their reputation for stability, but their only VOIP model is the T25, which is apparently out of production, or at least very difficult to find. I've had good luck with Netgear so went with their CM2050V. The claim is that this modem can be provisioned with Xfinity by the end user, but I had my AV specialist handle the chore. Happy I did! First, as an authorized technician he had access to a direct line, whereas a end-user would have to wade through the Xfinity customer service prompts. and holds Secondly, even the higher tier Xfinity expert had a few issues with the provisioning. I use the modem with an ORBI 963 mesh router, but I've not had the modem long enough to comment on its stability.

CM3000 Easy setup with Xfinity. Performs well.
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·DaBird
Xfinity recently did an upgrade on our internet connection. Our old modem did not fully support the upgrade. We purchased the next generation CM3000 to "future-proof" our connection to Xfinity. After a fifteen minute setup we immediately measured an upstream change from 5 Mbps to 120 Mbps. Our downstream change we measured being from 190 Mbps to 330 Mbps. Both measurements were made via ethernet connection to our router. It seems that the CM3000 is doing it's job appropriately.\nThe weak link in our setup is the 6 year old router which is connected to the modem via a 1Gbps ethernet port and cat 6a cable. We were hoping to see 600 to 800 Mbps downstream speeds. It would be great if the modem firmware supported a rudimentary speed test so that it's performance could be more easily validated. Interesting data is available via the modem's web interface, but we don't understand what all the numbers mean.

NETGEAR Nighthawk® (2GBS) Cable Modem DOCSIS 3.1
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·DebT
NETGEAR Nighthawk® Multi-Gig Speed (2gbs) Cable Modem DOCSIS® 3.1. I always liked Netgear so when I wanted to switch out the provider cable "rental" modem due to excessive costs, I went directly to Netgear. Price was best and reasonable at Walmart.com and Warranty is one year in most cases. Three easy setup steps (3mins) and installation completed through provider in 5 minutes. 1. Disconnect old modem, 2. Connect cable coaxial to new modem, then power cord, wait until light (looks like orbit circle on front of modem) stays solid green, plug in ethernet cord (yellow or blue) and start computer, 3. Call provider and give MAC %23 (found on bottom modem) to reboot (may need S/N %23). Done in 10 mins total. I also have Netgear Nighthawk Router. Another easy setup. Never had any problems with Netgear or Customer Service. I would recommend Netgear.

Not recommended by Xfinity??
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·defaultForRating
We've noticed intermittent connectivity issues with your internet service and have identified the cause to be a defect with your NETGEAR CM2050V internet modem. NETGEAR is working on a software update that should fix the problem. Because the update may not be available for several months, we have taken steps in the interim to stabilize your connection and provide you with the best possible experience. These proactive measures should resolve your intermittent connectivity issues and provide you with fast speeds, but your modem may not achieve the full upstream speeds included in your Xfinity Internet package until the NETGEAR CM2050V software update is deployed.

New Modem Setup was easy since I was replacing the same model , but had to Chat with Cox Cable no more talking with a live person on the phone took 1/2 hour to have them setup on there end. This modem completes the replacement of a modem/router combo that I placed in passthrough mode, as its embedded router had failed to connect to a couple devices in my home. After having success with a new Netgear router, I got the modem to complete the upgrade. Except for the phone line, I was able get the modem installed and provisioned by Comcast without assistance. The phone line was another matter. Once I had an online chat established with a Comcast tech, we were able to get the phone line operational after several reboots. Since then, there have been no problems, and the internet is as fast as expected.

So far, so good for increased upload speeds with xfinity
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·Chad P
Unfortunately I was made to upgrade by Xfinity to a new modem even though I had a perfectly fine docsis 3.1 modem not even 3 years old, to access the newly available "next gen" upload speeds. I began searching for a unit that was not some sort of atrocious combination modem/router/ap and came across this. Set up through Xfinity was painless and this modem is running like a champ for a few weeks now. I now have 6x the upload speed as I had before, which is quite nice. Would recommend to anyone in need of a modem certified for mid/high split, "next gen" speed, or whatever terminology your ISP chooses

It works good. It was a bit difficult to get all connected and ai even had to call Netgear, my internet supplier and my Mesh's supplier. I called them all to get it running. All of them were keen to help me except Netgear. They were not friendly and just “washed their hands” and passed the “issue” to the others. \nIt all turned fine but I was disappointed by their total lack of interest in helping me. \nMy Mesh's supplier and the Internet supplier went above and beyond to help me! \nSo, product good but disappointing service. \nI will give them 5 even though they don't fully deserve it.

Perfect unit for Xfinity Gig Speed and Voice
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·Phil
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this instead of having to pay for eternity the Xfinity cable internet and voice modem. Installation was a little tricky with xfinity support but once everything was registered, this CM2050V was providing gigabit internet speeds and voice perfectly. This was paired with a Netgear R7000 router that simply needed to be factory reset in order to properly synchronize to the CM2050V to get the gigabit speed that this cable modem was provisioned for. Now no more lag and latency issues while online with this awesome unit.

This model is one that is compatible with Xfinity. I was surprised how much technology has changed because my previous NetGear modem did not require a router but this one does. I think some information needs to be added to the outside of the packaging to tell the user to buy a router while they're at the store buying the modem!! I also don't understand why the modem has a password because as I set the new system up, I needed to use the router name and created a password. Hopefully I got everything set up correctly - - I am able to connect to WiFi using the router name.

I Finally Upgraded My 6-year Old Cable Modem With The CM3000. I Have A 1Gbps Plan With Comcast, And Consistently Get Above The Advertised Speeds ( I Get1.2 Gbps Down, 110 Mbps Up). I Chose The Netgear Modem Because I Have The Netgear Orbi RBR750 Router, Which Only Has 1-gig Ports, But Supports Bonding 2 Ports To Get Up To 2 Gbps. The CM3000 Supports This Feature. The Setup With Comcast Xfinity Was Pretty Straightforward, Except That They Forgot To Provision The Upstream For 100 Mbps And I Had To Call Them To Fix The Problem.\n\nOverall I'm Very Happy With This Modem.

Having the RS-700 router with a 10G cable modem input line I wanted to evaluate the 2.5G signal from this CM2000 versus the 1G signal out of the CM1100 cable modem. (One could have evaluated the link aggregation, but I did not study that.) What I discovered was little difference between the two cable modems in the Ookla (speedtest.net) and Fast.com speed tests. Both results exceeded the 300/10 speeds of our TDS internet connection. While there was no real difference between cable modems, the CM2000 is ready should higher speeds become available in the future.

I believe you will absolutely love this new modem. Unless of course you need/want to have the extra VoIP to go with it or you want the modem+router in one, than you need to get it's counterparts. I prefer the two to be separate from one another for a multitude of reasons. Now, I'm just patiently waiting for a decent discount to come along to go towards the purchase of the new Nighthawk RS700S WiFi 7 Router. Still a bit pricey. I just cannot wait for these two to find and connect to each other. They would definitely make a great power couple. Patience is a virtue.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Had the CM2000 for 3 years and it has performed flawlessly since day one. Replaced the “free” one from the ISP that was causing dropouts to my doorbell video about once a month. Doorbell folks suggested it could be the modem, suggesting the free modem wasn’t “free” of defects. \nLong story short, I’ve had no dropouts since. This modem isn’t cheap, there are DOCis 3.1’s to be had for half the price, but I’m not trusting them. And now that it’s been 3 solid years, NETGEAR has my vote for reliability.

CM3000 performance with Xfinity 2G Plan
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·Akchan
Upgraded my Xfinity internet service recently from 1G/40Mbps to a 2G/300Mbps plan, so I replaced my reliable 4-year-old CM1100 modem with the latest 2.5Gbps modem, CM3000 model. Activation took a bit longer due to the Xfinity provisioning process, but once set up, the CM3000 performed as expected. Testing with the Nighthawk Mobile App shows consistent speeds of 1.8-2.3Gbps download and over 340Mbps upload between the ISP and the CM3000. Now, I'm just left wondering what to do with the still-functional CM1100, which is perfect for a 1G plan.

I am able to connect up to 100 devices and the speed is OUTSTANDING. trying to reach customer service was also frustrating because it's very hard to get to a live person. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Enabling the CM2050V modem via the Xfininity app is super easy. Download speeds on wired connections were over 1,000Mbps. Wireless around 500... almost double what I'm getting from the rented Xfinity modem. Seemed too good to be true. Then about a month after purchase, I would lose internet, requiring a reboot of the modem. After reboot, everything is fine. This happens about every 5-10 days. Xfinity says it's a Netgear problem, since I'm not renting their modem. Netgear says it's an Xfinity problem. Search either the Xfinity or Netgear forums. This is a well documented issue. After about 5 months, the second phone line stopped working. I've been going back and forth with both Xfinity and Netgear to resolve it. Both phone lines work fine when connected to Xfinity's modem, but not the CM2050V. So, to summarize, when it works, it's great. When it doesn't, it's garbage.
